You travel by van or bus from Antigua to Panajachel. After registering at Posada Los Encuentros, we take you on an orientation tour of downtown Panajachel that includes the best places to eat, shop, and relax, - as well as the best options for night life. Dinner is your option. Saturday,
After breakfast at the lodge, we travel on the Lake to three of the most important communities in the Atitlan basin; visiting Santiago Atitlan, San Pedro La Laguna, and San Antonio Palopo. At each of these places you will be guided to the important cultural sites and best shopping places. Returning to Panajachel in mid-afternoon, you have the options of shopping in town, or relaxing at the lodge.

Sunday We begin the day with a lakeside, sunrise Mayan fire ceremony (unless you prefer to sleep-in). After breakfast at the lodge, we travel by van from Panajachel to Mirador Sta. Catarina and hike down a winding series of roadways and trails passing through flower and vegetable fields and coffee land with wonderful unobstructed views of the lake during the full descent. Entering the village of Sta. Catarina through the “back door”, we continue downhill through a network of alleys, bordered by primitive homes, until reaching the town square where we encounter a quaint Spanish Colonial church and some shops that sell textiles and art. There is time to relax with a drink/snack lakeshore before we return the 3 km distance to Panajachel, optionally, by van or hike, along a paved road with continuing excellent views of the Lake.
